When it comes to uplifting communities and protecting the most vulnerable in those communities, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) are indispensable. However, for these organisations to do their work effectively, they need the support of the communities they serve.

The health of any society can be measured by how it treats it’s most vulnerable members.
The “High 5” fundraising initiative aims to partner with five NGOs working in the Overstrand region to raise their profiles, inform the community of their respective visions and missions, create an empathetic “connection” between the NGOs and the local community and create an opportunity for local businesses to support the NGOs whilst simultaneously raising funds for the NGOs.
The “High 5” initiative will be a week-long event, driven by Whale Coast FM, through Radio, the Web and Social Media. Whale Coast FM will broadcast from the 6th to the 10th of May at the Hermanus Gateway Centre parking area, with each NGO enjoying one day of the week to strut their stuff on air.

Members of the public will be able to visit the Outside Studio to find out more about the NGOs as well as donate funds. Each donor will then stand a chance to win any number of prizes during the day. Additionally, all donors will stand a chance to win the grand daily prize.

We hope that you will join us in this worthy initiative. Tune in to Whale Coast 96FM to find out more and assist us in making our “Rainbow Nation” a working reality.

The HRT "Social Enterprise"

The Hermanus Rainbow Trust has developed a "sustainability strategy" to limit the challenges of getting "grant funding" from government, funding agencies and business in these difficult economic times. The strategy is built around the establishment of a "Social Enterprise" in line with global trends.

Non-Profit Organisations - The Current Funding Model is NOT Sustainable

Why ? What are the alternatives ?

The Hermanus Rainbow Trust, like many other NPO’s / NGO’s, is threatened by the current "grant funding" models in South Africa, where most NPO’s are totally dependent on "grant funding from Government, Funding Agencies, Business, Individual Donors, Sponsors and fund raising events.

Please help us help those in NEED !
