"Sponsor a Child"

The "Sponsor a Child" Programme relies on the generosity of individuals and businesses to enable the HRT to support and help disadvantaged children to get decent schooling.

ThiReady for schools programme currently assists 206 disadvantaged children to improve their quality of life, attend crèches and schools and to prepare them for life in general. The HRT Grade R Educare Centres have an excellent track record of preparing young children for primary school and life in general. This is as a result of the dedication of our highly competent Social Carer’s, Grade R teachers and our “Early Childhood Development” specialist.

Each child that is sponsored gets a monthly customised package based on the amount sponsored, and the needs of the child each month. However the packages include various combinations of "food parcels", toiletries, uniforms, clothes, blankets, books, toys and domestic fuel (parafin or electricity vouchers). The children also get 2 meals a day and supervised after school activities, assistance with homework, as well as psycho-social support and counselling if required. If our teachers or social carers identify any strange behaviour or problems, these will be referred toSocial Carer - Mandy the Social Worker who will formerly manage the case and make the necessary referrals if required. Typical examples include abuse, malnourishment, rape, neglect, bullying, etc.

Make a Difference - please consider helping our children by becoming a sponsor.

The HRT "Social Enterprise"

The Hermanus Rainbow Trust has developed a "sustainability strategy" to limit the challenges of getting "grant funding" from government, funding agencies and business in these difficult economic times. The strategy is built around the establishment of a "Social Enterprise" in line with global trends.

Non-Profit Organisations - The Current Funding Model is NOT Sustainable

Why ? What are the alternatives ?

The Hermanus Rainbow Trust, like many other NPO’s / NGO’s, is threatened by the current "grant funding" models in South Africa, where most NPO’s are totally dependent on "grant funding from Government, Funding Agencies, Business, Individual Donors, Sponsors and fund raising events.

Please help us help those in NEED !
